Customer Maintenance – Creation and Modification

This blog gives overview of a expected BPM functionality for Customer Maintenance scenario.
In SAP, for Customer Maintenance, we have standard T-Codes( XD01, XD02, XD03) for Customer Creation/Modification/Deletion. We completed a project for our client in which we created a BPM process with similar functionality of standard SAP Customer Maintenance. The client can access custom UI screens developed in Web Dynpro using SAP Portal.
This means, using a browser and an internet connection, with proper authorization, you can maintain Customer in ECC!! This scenario helps us to maintain customer easily, on the go and in no time, integrated with all the powerful features such as:
• Email Notifications to the end users.
• No paper work.
• Data management.
SAP BPM provides security feature using which we can give proper authorization to the end user to create/modify/delete the customer. We can configure roles and assign it to a particular activity/tasks/lane.
For Customer Maintenance, there are different departments involved. All has to approve and agree upon the requested action.
Steps for Customer Creation:
• Any particular department (e.g. sales) would create the customer. This customer is “temporary” and not yet created in SAP ECC.
• Other departments (e.g. logistics and billing) can enter the master data for their relevant fields.
• Thereafter, the customer gets created in SAP ECC.

Steps for Customer Modification:

• Open the Customer in edit mode.
• Maintain or change details for the particular Customer.
• Take approval from the concerned department.
• Save the customer.

Here, Sales Executive would initiate the Customer Creation process. After series of approval, the Customer will be created in ECC. Using the same process we can achieve Customer Modification as well. For Customer deletion we have to follow a different process.
