The mySAP SCM is one of the mySAP Business Suite solutions to manage Supply Chain Management in an efficient and effective way which improves supply chain efficiencies. In this blog, we present the high level role of CIF architecture for integration between SAP ECC and SAP SCM.
SAP APO is an application component of SAP SCM application. Basically, it is used for planning, demand, supply and production. SAP APO is the purely planning tool; SAP ECC is used as execution system.
Data exchange is always between APO and ECC for consistent planning and for correct result via standard SAP interface called CIF (i.e. Core Interface). The Core Interface (CIF) is used to integrate the both systems. There is real time transaction data exchange between APO and SAP ECC system (Two way data transfer) and also one way data transfer of master data from SAP ECC to APO via CIF.
The APO Core Interface guarantees both the initial data transfer (initial transfer) and also the transfer of data changes within APO. We need to set up the Remote Function Call (RFC) connections before data can be exchanged using CIF.
It is the best practice to use SAP ECC master data for planning purpose via CIF since SAP ECC is always the System of Record for master data.
